Student cellphone use is increasing in Alberta and many parts of the world. While cellphones have the potential to be powerful teaching aids that, when used appropriately, can improve learning outcomes, there are significant risks and concerns with inappropriate cellphone usage. Cellphones can distract students in the classroom, disrupt learning, or impact student safety through bullying or harassment.
Alberta parents, guardians, teachers and other educational staff are invited to share their ideas on cellphone use in schools by taking the online survey below. Your input will help provide future direction to Alberta Education on cellphone use in elementary, junior high, and senior high schools.
